Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that attach to the front surface of your teeth and treat a number of cosmetic imperfections. They are made from tooth-colored materials, most commonly porcelain. Veneers are often ideal for someone with discoloured, chipped, worn down and broken teeth or someone with gapped, asymmetrical or crowded teeth.
To prepare for veneers, your doctor choose a custom shade and will make a model of your teeth, which is then sent to a dental technician to create your veneers.
Once your veneers are placed, you'll be pleased to see that they look like natural teeth, only more beautiful than before. While veneers are stain-resistant, your doctor may recommend that you avoid tobacco and certain beverages that are known to stain teeth such as coffee, tea or red wine to maintain the brilliance of your new smile.
Most veneer applications require minimal tooth preparation making them one of the easiest cosmetic procedures for patients. Unlike a crown, sometimes veneers can be placed right on your existing tooth surface without any drilling or grinding of the tooth structure.
Because of their thin construction, we recommend a nightguard to protect your veneers from premature chipping and fracture, allowing them to last as long as possible!
