The majority of fillings in our office are tooth coloured. While silver amalgam fillings a tried and true restoration, we have found that most patients today no longer want any new fillings to be dark coloured.
A composite (tooth coloured) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and prepared and then the composite filling will be precisely placed, shaped, and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.
Reasons for composite fillings:
- Chipped, cracked or broken teeth
- Closing space between two teeth
- Decayed teeth
- Worn teeth
There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist at South London Dental Care Centre can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth.
